Contests, raffles, kite decorating, concessions and a mass kite launch highlight the annual Statewide Kite Fly and Touch-A-Truck events held each May at Springfield Park.
The first 100 children (ages 12 and younger) to pre-register receive a T-shirt the day of the event. Admission is free; however, some attractions and refreshments require a fee.
Register in person at the JRC or online here. Kite Fly/Touch-A-Truck is located under Special Events on the registration site.
Sponsored by the Illinois Association of Park Districts, the kite fly raises awareness of the Park District Youth License Plate Flying 4 Kids program. Sales of Flying 4 Kids license plates go to park districts and recreation agencies to provide innovative, after-school programming for Illinois youth.
Touch-A-Truck features are variety of trucks and vehicles to climb, sit and play on. Parental supervision is required.
Call the JRC Front Desk at (630) 529-3650 in case of inclement weather. There is no rain date.
