Starfish Aquatics Institute Professional Lifeguard Training The Bloomingdale Park District Aquatic Staff has received rigorous water safety training and testing conducted by The Starfish Aquatics Institute. The Institute’s mission is to reduce drowning and save lives by providing reputable and responsive aquatic safety training programs and services delivered to the public through a network of independent Authorized Training Centers (a certification held by Bloomingdale Park District), operated by friendly, knowledgeable, aquatic professionals. This level of oversight and quality assurance is unmatched by any other national lifeguard and/or aquatic safety training agency. In addition to Professional Rescuer CPR and First Aid, all staff has been through a 20-hour training course and will follow up with at least 4 hours per month of additional in-service training. Starfish Aquatics Institute will conduct surprise reviews throughout the summer to evaluate staff performance, knowledge and professionalism on the spot. Periodically the staff will practice rescue techniques during open swim hours using rescue dummies--pool patrons are encouraged to watch as the staff practices. Please know these drills are conducted for the purpose of keeping staff’s skills sharp and their awareness acute at all times, helping to ensure your safety. |
