Make a Difference Day & Scout Jamboree

The Foundation’s most popular event, Make a Difference Day went off without a hitch for another year. The festivities began on September 21st with the Scout Jamboree. The scouts spent the night at Springfield Park and enjoyed storytelling, outside games, and a campfire. They awoke in the morning to the smells of their pancake breakfast provided by the Foundation and Springfield Nature Area helpers. Following the breakfast, the public joined the scouts and helped with wetland management by collecting & harvesting seeds. Children enjoyed the craft stations where they could make their own bird feeder and paper butterflies. The event wouldn’t have been complete without the “critter demonstrations” that featured skunks “Frasier” and “Lillith”, a Great Horned Owl, and two falcons. Thank you to the Springfield Nature Area Committee and the Foundation for making this event a success!
