When Nature Calls…..’Parkies’ Answer! The Bloomingdale Park District is the fortunate beneficiary of hundreds of volunteer hours every year. Program volunteers assist at special events and on administrative projects. Many individuals prefer to share their love of the environment or their fundraising talents. School, church, companies, and civic groups are always welcomed and encouraged to volunteer also! If you have a love for nature and the outdoors or merely the desire to help your community, we’d love to talk to you. Here we shine the spotlight on two groups of individuals truly making a difference at the Bloomingdale Park District! |
Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others — a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. On a bright and warm Saturday afternoon, volunteers joined forces to beautify Springfield Park by removing invasive plants, collecting seeds and taking a fun hayride around the wetlands area.
Thanks to everyone who came out! You really made a difference! Learn about other volunteering opportunities or community service projects by calling Anita P. Escalante at 630-529-3650 x 38. |
Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others – a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors created by USA Weekend Magazine. “This was the best organized and attended Make A Difference Day in the six years we’ve been participating!” exclaimed Peggy Schmuldt, Parks Foundation Board Member. Children and adults also joined forces and added their artistic touches to terra cotta planters then filled them with seasonal mums. Approximately 100 planters with inspirational messages were donated to the residents of Alden - Valley Ridge Rehabilitation & Health Care Center to brighten up their days and their rooms. |
