The Bloomingdale Park District invites organizations to take part in its Adopt-A-Park program. Show community pride and civic responsibility by partnering with the Bloomingdale Park District.

The program is designed to be a low key, informal approach to involve the community with its neighborhood park by "keeping an eye out" for potential hazards, vandalism and general park abuse, as well as assisting in keeping parks clean and free of invasive vegetation. It is the Park District's hope that this involvement will increase the level of appreciation and awareness.

The Adopt-A-Park program does not substitute the Park District's responsibility for maintaining the parks. All 13 Bloomingdale Park District park sites are routinely inspected each week by the parks department to ensure safety and aesthetic quality. Playground equipment, backstops, lights, vegetation, walkways and other park amenities are scrutinized for potential hazards. All "adopted" parks remain on the weekly inspection checklist and receive equal maintenance attention.

Terms & Conditions

Adopt-A-Park sponsors receive a special sign(s) displayed in their adopted park, affixed to existing park signage, acknowledging their adoption of park.

Adopt-A-Park sponsors are responsible for organizing and supplying volunteers for a Make A Difference Day at adopted park. The date, time, duties and volunteer work are to be determined after consultation with Bloomingdale Park District Director of Parks & Planning.

Adopt-A-Park sponsors are required to present a one-time donation to the Bloomingdale Parks Foundation. Amount varies from park to park. This initial donation is used for purchase of Adopt-A-Park signage with leftover funds allocated to the Parks Foundation’s scholarship account.

Adopt-A-Park sponsor program is good for one year from date of sign installation. Adopt-A-Park partnerships are to be reviewed annually. An additional donation (amount TBD) is required to renew for another year.
