COVID Update as of January 5, 2022

Published 1/5/2022

With the recent COVID developments, changes have been made to our programming and facilities.

Temporarily reduced hours for the JRC Registration Desk
Effective January 5

Hours for the JRC Registration Desk will be 8:30AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday, and CLOSED on the weekends. This temporary change will be effective through January 17 or until further notice.

During closed hours a secure drop slot is available at the Registration Desk for patrons to drop off registrations and payments. B-Fit members may check-in with our Building Attendant in the lower level if there is not a staff member at the Registration Desk.

We appreciate the understanding and patience of our patrons and B-Fit members while the reduced hours are put into place during these extraordinary staffing challenges.

Youth Basketball on Recreational Pause
January 5, 2022
All Bloomingdale Park District Youth Basketball programs have been put on recreational pause effective immediately through January 17. Between now and January 17, the Park District will monitor the community health statistics alongside our school districts and neighboring park districts to determine how to proceed beyond Martin Luther King Day. This recreational pause includes all practices, home games, and away games through January 17 for both In-House and Travel Basketball.

This decision was made in concert with Bloomingdale School District 13 and informed by the increased positivity rate of COVID-19 cases in DuPage County and the Bloomingdale community itself. The Park District supports the Bloomingdale School District 13 decision to suspend high-risk athletic activities through Martin Luther King Day to achieve its goal of safely keeping school buildings open and students in classrooms for in-person instruction.

The Bloomingdale Park District will provide all possible assistance with the rescheduling of make-up games.

It is our intent at this point to resume practices and games on January 18. This assumes positivity statistics and Bloomingdale School District 13 have returned to normal.

The nature of basketball – designated a high-risk sport by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) that requires close contact and increased respiratory activity – makes it an especially risky sport considering how easily the current Covid variant spreads.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we fulfill our commitment to keep patrons, staff, and the community safe and healthy during these difficult times.
