At the recent annual conference of the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) and the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) in Chicago, Bloomingdale Park District Commissioner Frank Saverino, Jr. received the Distinctive Board Member Award from IAPD for his achievements in the Board Member Development program. Participants accumulate Board Development Units (BDUs) for committee involvement, attendance at educational workshops, volunteer activities, meeting attendance, participation in special events and other activities on the local, state and national levels.
Frank always showcases exceptional dedication to volunteer work. His contributions span various organizations, including the Bloomingdale Baseball and Softball Association and the Bloomingdale Parks Foundation. Notably, he led successful fundraising projects like "Aim For The Fences" and organized the "Pooch Parade" for community benefit. In his role as a Board Commissioner, Frank initiated projects that increased financial support and collaborated with Executive Director Joe Potts to strengthen legislative support and community engagement. His efforts have solidified him as a standout "Rising Star" in Bloomingdale, embodying the true spirit of volunteerism and positive change in the community.
According to IAPD, the program gives recognition to local board members who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty through committee involvement, attendance at continuing educational opportunities and achievements at the local, state and national levels.
"We are happy and grateful Frank is being recognized for his efforts in the Board Member Development Program,” said Joe Potts, Executive Director of the Bloomingdale Park District. "This recognition is very deserving because Frank is consistently going beyond to serve the Bloomingdale community as a Bloomingdale Park District Board Commissioner.”
