Energy Saving Program Initative at BPD

The Bloomingdale Park District recently received financial support from the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program to improve the pump system to one with more control and greater efficiency.
“Public pools tend to consume a lot of resources- human, financial, and natural," said Joe Potts, Executive Director. "Anytime we can reduce our consumption and still offer the same or better-quality product, we will. We were fortunate to find a partner in ComEd to invest in the idea.”
This improvement controls the speed at which the pool water circulation pumps operate. Instead of running at full capacity constantly, the pumps run only as needed to maintain the purity of the water, but with less energy.
“We are grateful to the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program for this one-time investment that will save our community’s resources for the life of the pool. Anytime ComEd incentivizes better use of resources through grants like this one, we will be happy to work with them," said Joe.
