Park District passes referendum

The Bloomingdale Park District referendum request for $9.9 million to repair and improve three of our existing facilities has been approved.

We’d like to thank every member of the Park District community for your continued support. From the written survey responses to the ballots cast in yesterday’s vote, your voices have been heard and we are honored to deliver what matters most to you here in our community.

As responsible stewards of your tax dollars, we will begin work as soon as construction season begins on the Springfield Park ballfields and adjacent Springfield Park Wetlands, the Johnston Recreation Center and The Oasis Water Park. We look forward to the completion of these projects so that ball games can be played with minimal interruption, invasive species can be removed from the wetlands, The Oasis Water Park will receive upgrades on outdated equipment, and children and adults alike who attend classes at the recreation center can have adequate space for their education and enjoyment.

All construction is expected to be completed within the next two-plus years. While we will attempt to keep disruptions to a minimum, there may be times your favorite class or activity may be temporarily moved to an alternate location. We appreciate your patience and we urge all residents to visit our website and regularly follow us on social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to stay up-to-date on our progress. Again, we are grateful for your continued support.
