Bloomingdale Park District Director of Recreation Sandy Vangundy was recognized as a Community Exemplar at the Bloomingdale School District 13 Board of Education Meeting held August 23 at the District Administrative Office.
District 13's Board of Education recognizes those making a difference to the organization and community. The Board distributes three exemplar awards, one for an outstanding community member, one for an outstanding staff member, and one for an outstanding student. Vangundy was honored as the outstanding community member.
Vangundy has been with the Bloomingdale Park District for 26+ years. She works closely with District 13 to coordinate use of facilities, as well as partner on programs such as Kids' Place (before and after school care) and Blended Preschool at Erickson Elementary.
The following is read aloud prior to the recognition being made:
"The Board of Education has historically recognized that it takes everyone to deliver a high quality education to the children of Bloomingdale and there are special people who we acknowledge each month as exemplars. An exemplar is a person or thing serving as a typical example or excellent model. Tonight, we will be identifying and celebrating different exemplars who have made a difference in Bloomingdale School District 13.
