Welcome to the BPD E-newsletter! This monthly update keeps you in tune with all of the events, activities and happenings in the Bloomingdale Park District. Our mission is to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.

Fall Fest

Candy Apples, Hayrides and a Petting Zoo!

Gather family and friends and enjoy an evening full of fun, fall festivities 6 to 8 p.m., October 16 at Springfield Park at the Third Annual Fall Fest. The first 100 children ages 12 and under to pre-register receive a glow necklace the day of the event!

 

Activities include:

Persons age 14-16 should stick around 8 to 10 p.m. for Fall Fest After Hours. The new special event features a DJ, dancing, prizes, giveaways and other special surprises.

 


Make A Difference Day

Reconnect with Nature

Make A Difference Day, organized by Wolff Construction of Roselle, includes cleaning up trash, clearing invasive plants and vegetation, seeding native plants and vegetation, and more.

 

The annual event is scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m., October 24 at Springfield Park. Contact Joe Potts at (630) 339-3576 for more information or to volunteer.

Staff Picks for October

Staff Picks

Slapshots, High Fives and FREE Hockey! If your son or daughter loves hockey and the Chicago Blackhawks, then this youth open gym is for them. Program runs 6 to 7 p.m., October 16 for grades 4th-6th.

Juried Multi Media Exhibition

 

October 10 - November 7

Juried Multi Media Exhibition: "Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow"
An outstanding display of artwork will be on view at this annual juried show. The creative talents of artists from near and far come together to present unique interpretations of the theme "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." Included are works in a variety of media including drawing, painting, sculpture and photography. Work will be available for purchase.

Halloween Party

Halloween Party - All of Bloomingdale is invited to join in the grandest Halloween Party scheduled for October 24 at the Bloomingdale Public Library and Village Hall. Activities run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Park District Activities run noon to 3 p.m. and include:

  • Arts and Crafts

  • Family Pumpkin Decorating Contest

  • Entertainment

  • Park District activities sponsored by Eagle Falls Dentistry

Father Daughter Hayrides - Dads and daughters enjoy a relaxing hayride around Springfield Park and make fun craft projects at this new special event set for 6 to 7:30 p.m., October 9. Hot dogs, chips and a drink are provided. Couples make s’mores for dessert. Entertainment also is provided. Registration deadline is October 7.

 

Days Off of School - The Park District provides days off of school programming for school districts 13 and 15 for preschool through sixth grade. Activities include games, sports, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor playtime, cooking, trips, special events and a whole lot more. Upcoming program dates are October 9, 12 and 21. Register online! Days off of school programming is located under Youth General under the Activities menu on the right side of the registration site.

Klub Friday Night - October 23 is the next KFN. The program for fourth- and fifth-graders runs 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the JRC and features a DJ spinning tunes, games, tournaments and special prizes. Admission includes a piece of pizza and drink. Register online! KFN is located under Youth General under the Activities menu on the right side of the registration site.

 

CHARACTER COUNTS! Celebration Night - The whole community is invited to CHARACTER COUNTS! Celebration Night in Old Town Park October 13 for fun and entertainment. Children amaze the audience with performances honoring the Six Pillars of Character, and the American Character Awards are presented to school children and youth athletes who exhibit outstanding character. The theme this year is Rainbow of Character, highlighting all the colors of the Pillars.
