Welcome to the BPD E-newsletter! This monthly update keeps you in tune with all of the events, activities and happenings in the Bloomingdale Park District. Our mission is to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.

Bunny Bash

Bunny Bash & Lions Club Egg Hunt

Hop on over to Bloomingdale's most bumpin' time at the Annual Bunny Bash and Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., March 19 at Circle Park and the Johnston Recreation Center.


The egg hunt starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. in Circle Park, 163 Fairfield Way. The Bunny Bash follows shortly thereafter, running 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., at the adjacent JRC, 172 S. Circle Ave.


Both events are FREE! The egg hunt is sponsored by the Lions Club, and the Bunny Bash is sponsored by Eagle Falls Dentistry and Bloomingdale Bank & Trust .


Bunny Bash activities include a bounce house, coloring contests, petting zoo, craft activities, games, entertainment, pictures with the Bunny, refreshments, book walk with the Bloomingdale Public Library and more.


All participants for the Bunny Bash MUST pick up a wristband at the Johnston Recreation Center beginning March 1. The egg hunt does NOT require a wristband.



Superhero Engineering

Super Hero Engineering

Spring Break Camps (March 28-April 1)

Super Hero Engineering (Ages 5-12) - Build the hideouts and vehicles of your favorite caped crusaders and learn what makes them not only Super Heroes, but Super Hero Engineers! An experienced Play-Well instructor guides young heroes as they design, build and save a city where ingenuity and imagination solve any conflict. Use code SUPERENG and save $10 when registering online.


Jr. Master Chef Camp (Ages 6-12) - Participants learn how to prepare new foods every day, from scratch to completed dishes. All supplies are included. Each participant receives a chef hat and apron. Extended care is available. Kids learn an abundance of skills including math skills, measuring and shapes, problem-solving, increased vocabulary, chemistry and science, geography, creativity, health info, fine motor skills, social skills and more.


Register for these classes online. They are located under Special/Sport Camps.

Staff Picks

Staff Picks for March

Attention girls! Moms, aunts and grandmas are invited for a morning full of fun with their daughters, nieces and grandchildren. Activities include decorating homemade sugar cookies and making different spring time arts and crafts. The morning concludes with cookies and, of course, tea! Spots are limited so please register soon.

33rd Annual Student Art Show - The 33rd Annual Student Art Show runs March 5 through April 9 at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum. The exhibition provides an opportunity for the public to view the work of talented students in local schools. Students from first grade through high school use a variety of materials and techniques to create dynamic 2-D and 3-D works. This highly-popular show is a great introduction for young artists, some of who've exhibited as students and returned years later to exhibit again as adults.


Westfield Walking Track- Inclement weather putting a damper on your outdoor exercising? The Westfield Walking Track is FREE for residents and open daily for use. Days and Hours


Days Off of School - The Park District provides days off of school programming for school districts 13 and 15 for preschool through sixth grade. Activities include games, sports, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor playtime, cooking, trips, special events and a whole lot more. Upcoming dates are March 4, 7, 21, 25 and 28-April 1. Register online! Days off of school programming is located under Youth General on the registration site.

Klub Friday Night - Friday, March 11 is the next KFN. The program for fourth- and fifth-graders runs 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the JRC and features a DJ spinning tunes, games, tournaments and special prizes. Admission includes a piece of pizza and drink. Register online! KFN is located under Teens & Tweens on the registration site.


Birthday Parties - Bloomingdale Park District birthday parties are easy, affordable and fun! A wide variety of themes are offered, and all parties include a party host, decorated party room, juice, goodie bags, and room set-up and clean-up.
