Welcome to the BPD E-newsletter! This monthly update keeps you in tune with all of the events, activities and happenings in the Bloomingdale Park District. Our mission is to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.

Palm Tree Pass

Island Events @ The Oasis Water Park

Experience an abundance of exciting activities this July at The Oasis Water Park, open daily, 11:30AM-7PM.

  • Boat Floats - Enjoy one of nine paddleboats in 'Cuda Cove July 6 at 6 p.m.; July 11 at 4 p.m.; July 26 at 6 p.m.; and August 8 at 6 p.m.

  • Aqua Climb Days - Ages 8-14 race against time to see who can reach the top the fastest July 7 and August 7 at 6 p.m.

  • Giveaway Days - The first 100 guests receive an Oasis Cup July 18 and Oasis Goggles August 4.

  • Oasis After Hours - Ages 13-17 enjoy a late-night dip in the pool 8:30 to 10 p.m., July 13 and August 3.

  • Discount Days - Admission is only $1 July 12 and August 9!

  • Frozen Oasis - Ice cube fun for everyone 1-2 p.m., & 6-7 p.m., July 12.

  • Bloomingdale Bank & Trust Coin Dive - Children ages 4-12 dive for coins in all depths of the pool at 4 p.m., July 14. Special coins provided by Bloomingdale Bank & Trust earn a special prize.

  • I Want to be a Lifeguard - Ages 7-12 can be a part of The Oasis staff for an hour, 3 to 4 p.m., July 19.

  • Caribbean Night at The Oasis - Island activities, tropical refreshments and the soothing sounds of the Mr. Myers Band highlight the first-ever Caribbean Night at The Oasis 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., July 24.

  • Oasis KFN - Splashtastic fun for grades 4-6, 8:30 to 10 p.m., July 27.

Referendum 2016 Update

The Bloomingdale Park District is actively planning the capital projects identified by the community as needing repair and/or improvement based upon the successful referendum in November 2016.   

The projects and associated work schedules are as follows:

 

Springfield Park - Improving the Springfield Park ballfields to help prevent widespread flooding of fields and nearby paths has begun. Read more...

 


Heroes vs. Half-Pints

Heroes vs. Half-Pints

National Night Out, Heroes-Half-Pints & Whiffleball Classic

The Bloomingdale Park District and Bloomingdale Police Department are proud to sponsor the 32nd Annual National Night Out Against Crime. The night features open swim, food and beverages, games and prizes, and lots of fun! 

 

Additionally, middle school players showcase their skills against the Bloomingdale Police Department at the 12th Annual Heroes vs. Half-Pints Softball Showdown 7:15 to 8:30 p.m.

 

Not old enough for Heroes vs. Half-Pints? Children entering grades 1-4 are invited to play whiffleball with local First Responders at the Whiffleball Classic. This is a non-competitive game and everyone plays. Registered players receive a T-shirt. Both Heroes vs. Half-Pints and Whiffleball Classic are listed under special events on the registration site.

Sunrise Shuffle 5K

Sunrise Shuffle 5K

Sunrise Shuffle 5K - Support local parks and recreation at the Seventh Annual Bloomingdale Parks Foundation Sunrise Shuffle 5K, presented by Sunrise Chevrolet! The September 9 run is a kick-off event for Bloomingdale's 44th Annual Septemberfest and starts and ends at the Johnston Recreation Center. Church Street Brewing provides post-race refreshments.

 

Kids Fun Run! - Focus on the fun at the Fifth Annual Kids Fun Run! This non-competitive event for ages 4-13 consists of a half-mile, one-mile, or two-mile run. All participants receive a T-shirt, medal and complimentary one-day pass to The Oasis Water Park.

 

Summer Concerts - Experience an array of talented music artists on a pleasant summer night at the Summer Concert Series every Tuesday at Old Town Park, 111 Third Street. All concerts are FREE and begin at 7 pm. Participants may bring lawn chairs and refreshments. The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by Stratford Square Mall

 

Lunchtime Funtime - Spend quality time with your little loved one and enjoy free children’s entertainment sure to put a smile on everyone’s face at the Lunchtime Funtime children’s entertainment series. The series takes places noon to 1 p.m., select Fridays, June through August, at the Homola Picnic Shelter in Circle Park. Lunchtime Funtime is sponsored by Eagle Falls Dentistry. Upcoming dates are July 7, 21 & 28, and August 4.

 

Purely Active Adult Recreation Club - Looking for something to do this summer? Drop in at the Johnston Recreation Center every Friday for a FREE activity or event as part of the new Purely Active Adult Recreation Club (PAARC). July activities include Chair Yoga, Live Entertainment, Trail Walk, Arts & Craffts and more!

 

Family Fun Picnic - Soak in the fresh air and enjoy a cool evening with Lakeview Park as the perfect backdrop 6:30 to 8 p.m., July 12. Food is not provided, so please bring your own goodies. Entertainment and games are offered for the whole family during the first half hour. Some picnic tables are available. Families may bring their own blankets. July 12 performer is Balloon Show Artist Dale Obrochta.

 

Wearable Art & Quilting Americana - Check out the Museum through July 22 for exhibits on wearable art and quilts. Visit the Museum's exhibition page for more information.

 

Westfield Walking Track- Inclement weather putting a damper on your outdoor exercising? The Westfield Walking Track is FREE for residents and open daily for use. Days and Hours

 

Birthday Parties - Bloomingdale Park District birthday parties are easy, affordable and fun! A wide variety of themes are offered, and all parties include a party host, decorated party room, juice, goodie bags, and room set-up and clean-up.
