Welcome to the BPD E-newsletter! This monthly update keeps you in tune with all of the events, activities and happenings in the Bloomingdale Park District. Our mission is to efficiently and economically provide recreation programs, facilities and open space designed to provide enjoyable leisure time experiences that benefit the community.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp Registration is Open!

Summer Day Camp registration officially opened April 1. Our summer day camp program is designed to spark your child’s imagination, grow new friendships, and assist them in discovering new talents each and every day. With creatively-planned activities, campers enjoy summer to the fullest extent and look forward to returning year after year.


Registration is accepted online and in person.

2018 Summer Program Catalog

Summer Brochure

The Bloomingdale Park District's Summer Brochure is scheduled to be delivered to residents April 4-8. Copies may also be picked up at the Johnston Recreation Center in the same timeframe.


The guide includes information on The Oasis Water Park, Referendum 2016, Summer Concert Series and more. The middle insert highlights the District's multiple summer camp options.


Resident registration is open upon receipt of the brochure. Open registration begins April 23.

Circle Park Renovation

Circle Park Renovation - Phase II

Renovation on Circle Park has resumed with the following projects on tap to be completed by the end of this summer.

  • small skate spot

  • rain gardens and improvements to the stormwater systems

  • renovated roller hockey rink for multi-season use

  • interpretive nature trail with educational signage

  • outdoor fitness equipment

  • new nature playground (completed June 2017)

  • picnic shelter (completed June 2017)

The renovations are part of a $224,000 Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grant originally awarded in December of 2014. All renovations and additions are derived from the Park District’s Strategic Plan, ADA Transition Plan, Capital Asset Replacement Plan and most recent Needs Assessment. Complete Release

Fish Release

Fish Release

Fish Release - Help restock ponds at Lakeview Park in Bloomingdale and Turner Park in Roselle at the annual Fish Release set for 9 a.m., April 21. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle, participants are provided with buckets to dispense fish into the ponds. Dress appropriately as splashing and muddy conditions are likely. All ages are welcome. This is a FREE event! Participants are asked to bring canned goods that are donated to the Bloomingdale Food Pantry.


Be A Firefighter - Dress up in firefighters’ coats and helmets and attain hands-on experience being a firefighter 10 to 11:30 a.m., April 14. Spray a fire hose and go through a firefighter’s training course. Kids must show up for duty at Bloomingdale Fire Protection Station 1, 179 S. Bloomingdale Road in Bloomingdale. Be a Firefighter is located under Early Childhood on the registration site.


Purely Active Adult Recreation Club - Looking for something to do on Fridays? Drop in at the Johnston Recreation Center 10 a.m. to noon every week for a FREE activity or event as part of the Purely Active Adult Recreation Club (PAARC). April activities include:

April 6 - National Caramel Popcorn Day

April 13 - Scrabble Day

April 20 - Social & Movie Day

April 27 - Arts & Crafts Day


Days Off of School - The Park District provides days off of school programming for school districts 13 and 15 for preschool through sixth grade. Activities include games, sports, arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor playtime, cooking, trips, special events and a whole lot more. Upcoming program dates are May 16, May 25, May 30 and May 31.

Klub Friday Night Jr. -April 20 is the next KFN of the year. The program for fourth- and fifth-graders runs 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the JRC and features a DJ spinning tunes, games, tournaments and special prizes. Admission includes a piece of pizza and drink. There will be a special Dodgeball Tourney April 20.


Westfield Walking Track- Inclement weather putting a damper on your outdoor exercising? The Westfield Walking Track is FREE for residents and open daily for use. Days and Hours


Birthday Parties - Bloomingdale Park District birthday parties are easy, affordable and fun! A wide variety of themes are offered, and all parties include a party host, decorated party room, juice, goodie bags, and room set-up and clean-up.
